The Department of Transportation has plans to close I-71 both directions between I-70 and I-670 for a bridge demolition this weekend. The closure was planned for 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday to take down the north half of the East Broad Street bridge.
I-70 westbound and eastbound between Miller/Kelton Avenue and 3rd Street will have weekend lane restrictions starting 7 p.m., Friday, July 23 through 5 a.m., Monday, July 26, ODOT stated.
When the highway reopens, drivers will have new traffic pattern on Broad Street. ODOT said bridge traffic will open with two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound over the highway.
Traffic will be moved to the new south half of the bridge so crews can rebuild the north half. The updated traffic flow will remain in place until next summer.
